Pat Daugherty, the band’s pianist and composer, has felt an allegiance to the Fender Rhodes ever since he took one out on tour with Gil Scott-Heron in 1984. He recently recorded with Ornette Coleman on Italian artist’s Mark kostabi’s project and was featured on HBO’s the making of Treme.  His first NY band featured Kurt Rosenwinkel on bass.  Pianist with the Martha Graham Dance Company since 2001, he has also composed music for the company. Pat scored and played on a post-modern tango featured nightly in the Blue Man Group show.

Tim Givens, the upright bassist who gives New York Electric Piano its gravitational pull, grew up working in his dad’s California music store. Tim’s stellar resume include performing and recording with the likes of Lou Donaldson, Ray Bryant, The Village Vanguard Orchestra, Curtis Fuller, and Herman Foster. Tim’s ability to maintenance the classic Fender Rhodes Electric Piano makes him far and away the most valuable member of the trio.

He leads the ultra-groovy band Genes and Machines which features his voice and instrument and the beautiful Ava Farber, who also joined NYEP.

Ava Farber is the newest addition to the band, lending her vocal prowess to the new octet sound.  An amazingly talented singer, Ava is featured on The Day I Fell For You.  Ava is also a member of Genes and Machines along with Leon Gruenbaum.
